Lesson 4: Calling on Our Father: Calming the Storm

Classroom Presentation & Zoom

Day 4
Splash and Flutter

Story Narration

The world was beautiful, bright, and full of plants. But it was very quiet. There were no sounds of splashing or chirping.

On the fifth day, God looked at the blue oceans and the open sky. He said, "Let the waters swarm with living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth!"

Suddenly, the ocean came alive! Giant whales breached the surface with a splash. Shiny silver fish darted through the coral reefs. Dolphins jumped and played in the waves.

At the same time, the sky filled with color. Red parrots, blue jays, and majestic eagles spread their wings. They soared through the clouds God had made. The air was filled with songs, squawks, and tweets. God blessed them all, saying, "Be fruitful and fill the waters and the sky."

Orthodox Theological Explanation

God is full of imagination. When He created fish and birds, He didn't just make one type. He made sharks and seahorses, hummingbirds and ostriches. Some live in the deepest, darkest ocean, and some fly high above the mountains.

This teaches us that God loves variety. He loves making different things. Just like no two snowflakes are alike, and no two birds are exactly alike, God made you unique too.

This is also the first time in the Bible that God "blessed" something. He told the animals to have families and fill the earth. God loves life! He wants His world to be full of movement and joy.

Daily Christian Application

Every time you hear a bird singing outside your window or see a fish swimming in a pond, think about how creative God is! He didn't just make one kind of bird or fish; He made thousands of colors and shapes because He loves beauty and variety. This means He loves that you are unique too! Since God took the time to design the tiny feathers of a hummingbird and ensures that even the smallest sparrow has food to eat, you can be sure that He is looking after all your needs. You can talk to Him about anything because the Creator of the wide ocean and the high sky is also your loving Heavenly Father who loves to hear your voice.

Key Takeaways

  • ★ God created all the fish and birds.
  • ★ God loves variety and color.
  • ★ God blessed the animals and told them to multiply.
  • ★ Nature is full of life because God is alive.
  • ★ God cares for the birds, so He definitely cares for us.

Parallel Verses & Holy Scripture

Genesis 1:20-23 20 God said, Let the waters swarm with swarms of living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth in the open expanse of the sky. 21 God created the large sea creatures, and every living creature that moves, with which the waters swarmed, after their kind, and every winged bird after its kind. God saw that it was good. 22 God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let birds multiply on the earth. 23 There was evening and there was morning, a fifth day.

Matthew 6:26 "See the birds of the sky, that they dont sow, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns. Your heavenly Father feeds them."

Psalm 104:25 "There is the sea, great and wide, in which are innumerable creeping things, both small and great animals."
