Classroom Presentation & Zoom

Day 3
Lights in the Sky

Story Narration

The earth was now shaped. It had land, oceans, and beautiful green plants. But look up! The sky was still just a big empty space of light and dark.

On the fourth day, God decided to decorate the sky. He said, "Let there be lights in the sky to separate the day from the night."

Instantly, a giant, burning ball of fire appeared"the Sun! It was warm and bright, ready to wake everyone up in the morning. Then, for the night, God made a gentle, glowing rock"the Moon"to act like a nightlight for the world.

But God wasn't finished. He took millions and billions of sparkling diamonds and scattered them across the dark velvet of space. He made the stars. He named every single one of them. Now, the sky was a masterpiece of twinkling lights, marking the seasons, the days, and the years.

Orthodox Theological Explanation

Have you ever looked up at the night sky away from the city lights? It is filled with so many stars you cant even count them. On Day 3 of our story (which is the fourth day of creation in the Bible), God created the clocks and calendars of the universe.

Before this, there was just "light." Now, God made specific holders for that light. The Sun gives us energy and warmth; without it, the plants created the day before couldn't grow. The Moon controls the ocean tides. God made everything work together perfectly.

This story teaches us that God is a God of order and time. He didn't just make the world and walk away; He set it up to run smoothly with mornings, evenings, and seasons. It also shows us God's power. The Bible says He made the stars also"almost like it was easy for Him! If God can hold the giant stars in place, He can definitely hold your life in His hands.

Daily Christian Application

When you look up at the sun during the day or the stars at night, remember that the same God who placed them there is watching over you. Just as He has a perfect schedule for the sun to rise and the moon to glow, He has a perfect plan for your life too. You don't ever have to worry about tomorrow because God has already set the world in motion to take care of you. Next time you see a beautiful sunset or a twinkling star, say a little prayer thanking God for being so powerful and yet so personal that He knows your name just as He knows the name of every star. Let the rhythm of day and night remind you that God is faithful and always keeps His promises.

Key Takeaways

  • ★ God created the Sun, Moon, and Stars.
  • ★ God created time (days, years, and seasons).
  • ★ The Sun helps life grow on earth.
  • ★ God is big enough to name every star.
  • ★ The universe is beautiful because God designed it.

Parallel Verses & Holy Scripture

Genesis 1:14-19 14 God said, Let there be lights in the expanse of the sky to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days and years; 15 and let them be for lights in the expanse of the sky to give light on the earth; and it was so. 16 God made the two great lights: the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night. He also made the stars. 17 God set them in the expanse of the sky to give light to the earth, 18 and to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness. God saw that it was good. 19 There was evening and there was morning, a fourth day.

Psalm 19:1 "The heavens declare the glory of God. The expanse shows his handiwork."

Psalm 147:4 "He counts the number of the stars. He calls them all by their names."
