Scripture (English) Grade 1
Lesson 23: Respecting the Delegated Authority (Priesthood)
Day 23
A Whole New World
Story Narration
One day, God spoke to Noah again. "Go out of the ship," He said. Noah opened the big door. The fresh air rushed in! Noah, his family, and all the animals walked out onto the dry ground. The animals ran, hopped, and flew into the forests and fields, happy to be free.
What was the first thing Noah did? Did he build a house? Did he plant a garden? No.
Noah built an altar (a special place to worship) and thanked God. He gave a gift to God for saving them.
God smelled the offering and was pleased. He promised in His heart never to destroy the earth with water again.
Orthodox Theological Explanation
Imagine stepping out of a dark house after a year inside. The world must have looked brand new, clean, and quiet.
Noah showed us what our priority should be. Before he did anything for himself (like building a house), he took time to say "Thank You" to God. This is called worship.
When God does something good for us"like helping us pass a test or getting better after being sick"we should stop and thank Him before we run off to play. God loves a thankful heart.
Daily Christian Application
Whenever something wonderful happens to you, try to make it your very first priority to stop and say "Thank You" to God before you do anything else. Just like Noah built an altar to worship God as soon as he stepped out of the Ark, showing gratitude is the best way to start any new day or project. Being thankful helps you remember that every good thing in your life is a gift from your Heavenly Father who loves you very much. You can turn your whole day into a celebration by looking for things to be grateful for, from the food on your plate to the friends you play with. A thankful heart is a happy heart, and it is the most beautiful gift you can offer back to God for everything He has given you.
Key Takeaways
- ★ Noah obeyed God when it was time to leave the Ark.
- ★ The first thing Noah did was worship God.
- ★ We should always say "thank you" to God.
- ★ God accepted Noah's worship.

Thessalonians 5:18 "In everything give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus toward you."
Lesson 23: Respecting the Delegated Authority (Priesthood)
📖 Numbers 16
Children will develop an understanding of why we must show respect to our priests and obey them. Children can learn about the importance of respecting God-appointed authority figures. Korah's rebellion against Moses and Aaron serves as a warning against challenging the authority that God has established. Children can learn about the consequences of disobedience and rebellion against God's commands. The rebellion of Korah and his followers resulted in severe judgment from God. Through this story, children should be encouraged to honor God's appointed leaders. [In addition, children can learn about the power of intercession and prayer. Moses interceded on behalf of the people, pleading for God's mercy and demonstrating his love and concern for his fellow Israelites.]
