Scripture (English) Grade 1
Lesson 19: Attend Timket Celebrations
Day 19
The Great Boat Project
Story Narration
God gave Noah a very strange instruction. He said, "Make yourself an ark of gopher wood." An ark is a giant boat. But God didn't just say "build a boat." He gave Noah blueprints! He told him exactly how long, how wide, and how tall to make it. It was to be HUGE"longer than three soccer fields! It needed three decks (floors), a roof, and a door on the side. And he had to cover it with pitch (sticky tar) to make it waterproof.
There was no ocean nearby. It wasn't raining. The neighbors probably laughed at Noah. "Why are you building a giant boat in your backyard?" they likely asked.
But Noah didn't argue. He picked up his hammer and started to work. Bang! Bang! Bang! For years, he worked, trusting that God knew what He was doing.
Orthodox Theological Explanation
Have you ever had to do something that didn't make sense to you, but your parents told you to do it? Like wearing a raincoat when the sun is shining?
Noah had to have huge faith. He had never seen a flood before. It had possibly never even rained like that before! But Noah obeyed God completely. He followed the instructions exactly.
This teaches us that obedience is doing what God says, when He says it, even if we don't understand why. God sees the big picture; we only see a little piece of it.
Daily Christian Application
Sometimes God might ask you to do something that seems a bit silly or hard, like being extra kind to someone who was mean to you, but you can trust Him just like Noah did with the Ark. Even if you don't see "the rain" yet, obeying God’s instructions always leads to safety and a wonderful result in the end. When you feel tempted to argue or complain about a rule, try to remember that God sees the whole map of your life and knows exactly how to get you to where you need to be. Picking up your own "hammer" and doing your work with a joyful heart shows God that you have big faith, even in the little things. Trusting God today means you'll be ready for the amazing adventures He has planned for your tomorrow.

You shall make it with lower, second, and third levels. 22 Thus Noah did. According to all that God commanded him, so he did.
