Scripture (English) Grade 1
Lesson 5: Trusting God's Delivery: Daniel in the Lions’ Den
Day 5
The Grand Finale: Animals and Humans
Story Narration
We have reached the sixth day. The oceans were full, and the sky was full, but the land was still just quiet forests and empty fields.
God spoke again, "Let the earth bring forth living creatures!"
Roar! Lions shook their manes. Stomp! Elephants marched with their heavy feet. Soft bunnies hopped in the grass, and giraffes stretched their long necks to eat leaves from the trees.
But God was saving the best for last. He wanted to make something special"something that was like Him.
God took some dust from the ground, formed a person, and breathed His own breath into him. The man opened his eyes. His name was Adam. Later, God made a woman named Eve. God looked at Adam and Eve and smiled bigger than He ever had before. He said, "This is very good."
Orthodox Theological Explanation
This is the most important day of creation because it is the day you were designed! God made all the animals, and they were cool, but people are different. The Bible says God made humans in His "image."
Being made in God's image doesn't mean we look like a drawing of God. It means we can think, love, speak, create, and make choices, just like God does. A dog cannot write a poem or pray to God, but you can!
God gave humans a special job: to take care of the earth and all the animals. We are like God's managers or stewards. We are special, loved, and created with a purpose.
Daily Christian Application
You are God's most special creation! While the lions are strong and the giraffes are tall, only you were made in God's very own image, which means you can love others, create beautiful things, and talk to God just like He talks to you. This is a very big honor, and it means you have a special job to do by showing God’s kindness to the people and animals in your life. When you help a friend, take care of a pet, or choose to be honest, you are shining God's light and showing everyone what He is like. Remember that you were created with a wonderful purpose, and God is very proud of the person He made you to be. Treat yourself and others with great respect today, knowing that everyone you see is a precious masterpiece designed by the King of the universe.

Parallel Verses & Holy Scripture
Genesis 1:24-31 24 God said, Let the earth produce living creatures after their kind: livestock, creeping things, and animals of the earth after their kind; and it was so. 25 God made the animals of the earth after their kind, and the livestock after their kind, and everything that creeps on the ground after its kind. God saw that it was good. 26 God said, Lets make man in our image, after our likeness. Let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the sky, and over the livestock, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth. 27 God created man in his own image. In God's image he created him; male and female he created them. 28 God blessed them... 31 God saw everything that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. There was evening and there was morning, the sixth day.
Psalm 139:14 "I will give thanks to you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Your works are wonderful. My soul knows that very well."
