Day 18
Noah Finds Grace

Story Narration

The whole world was acting crazy and mean. But there was one man who was different. His name was Noah. Noah wasn't perfect, but he was a good man. He walked with God, just like his great-grandfather Enoch had done. When everyone else was yelling, Noah was praying. When everyone else was fighting, Noah was helping his family.

The Bible says, "Noah found favor in the eyes of the LORD."Favor" is another word for Grace. It means God smiled upon Noah.

God spoke to Noah and said, "I am going to put an end to all this badness. I am going to send a flood to wash the earth. But I will save you, Noah. You, your wife, your three sons, and their wives."

Orthodox Theological Explanation

Imagine being the only kid in your whole school who follows the rules. People might make fun of you or think you are weird. That is how Noah felt. He was the only one who still loved God.

But because Noah loved God, God had a special plan for him. This introduces the word Grace. Grace means getting something good that you couldn't earn on your own. God chose to save Noah not just because Noah was a "superhero," but because Noah trusted God.

It takes courage to stand alone. Noah is a hero of faith because he didn't follow the crowd.

Daily Christian Application

It takes a lot of courage to do the right thing when it feels like you are the only one, but just like Noah, you can find "grace" or favor in God's eyes by staying true to Him. You don't have to be a perfect superhero to please God; you just need to have a heart that wants to follow Him and trust His word. Even if other kids make fun of you for being kind or for praying, remember that God's smile is much more important than the crowd’s approval. God sees your heart and is so proud of you for having the strength to stand for what is good. When you walk with God like Noah did, He will give you all the power and grace you need to handle anything that comes your way.

Key Takeaways

  • ★ Noah was different from the wicked people around him.
  • ★ "Grace" means God's unearned kindness.
  • ★ It is okay to be different if you are following God.
  • ★ God warns His people before danger comes.

Parallel Verses & Holy Scripture

Behold, I will destroy them with the earth."
