Lesson 20: Delegated Authority in Church: Deacons, Priests & Bishops

Classroom Presentation & Zoom

Day 20
Two by Two

Story Narration

The Ark was finally finished. It smelled like fresh wood and tar. Then, the ground started to rumble. Look! Here they come! From the forests, the deserts, and the jungles, animals were marching toward the Ark. God called them, and they obeyed.

There were two lions, two kangaroos, two tiny mice, and two giant elephants. There were seven pairs of some special farm animals and birds. It was the biggest parade in history. Noah didn't have to catch them with a net; God guided them right to the door.

Noah, his wife, his three sons, and their wives went inside. The animals went inside. Then, something very important happened. Noah didn't close the door. God closed the door. THUD. They were sealed in safe and sound.

Orthodox Theological Explanation

This is one of the most fun parts of the Bible to imagine. How did all those animals fit? God is a miracle worker. He organized the space and kept the animals calm.

The most important detail here is who shut the door. It was God. This shows that salvation (being saved) is God's work. Once God shut the door, no one could open it, and the water couldn't get in. It was a seal of protection.

The Ark reminds us of Jesus. Just like the Ark kept Noah safe from the judgment of the flood, Jesus keeps us safe from the judgment of sin. If we are "in" Jesus, we are safe.

Daily Christian Application

You can feel totally safe and sound today because God is the one who "shuts the door" of protection around your life. Just as the animals didn't have to worry about the storm once they were inside the Ark, you don't have to be afraid when you are "in" Jesus and trusting in His love. He is your giant rescue boat who carries you through every scary or overwhelming situation, keeping you dry and safe inside His care. You can thank God every night for being your refuge and your strength, knowing that no storm is too big for Him to handle. Let the story of the Ark remind you that God always makes a way for His children to be saved and kept safe forever.

Key Takeaways

  • ★ God brought the animals to Noah; Noah didn't have to catch them.
  • ★ God shut the door of the Ark.
  • ★ God kept them safe inside.
  • ★ The Ark is a picture of how God saves us today.

Parallel Verses & Holy Scripture

Genesis 7:1-5, 16 1 The LORD said to Noah, Come with all of your household into the ship, for I have seen your righteousness before me in this generation. 2 You shall take seven pairs of every clean animal with you, the male and his female. Of the animals that are not clean, take two, the male and his female. 3 Also of the birds of the sky, seven pairs, male and female, to keep seed alive on the surface of all the earth. ... 5 Noah did everything that the LORD commanded him. ... 16 Those who went in, went in male and female of all flesh, as God commanded him; and the LORD shut him in. Here is the continuation of the 365-Day Kids Bible Story Program, covering Day 21 through Day 40.
